Chive Tattoo grew up in the UK and South East Asia, which heavily influences her style, best summarised as ‘illustrative blackwork’. Her designs incorporate the inkiness of sumi-e and Japanese woodblock printing, while the illustrative line-work draws from textbook botanical illustrations and art nouveau. Using a combination of stencil and freehand, Chive enjoys the challenge of designing pieces to move naturally with the body, embracing the organic nature of the subject matter and the vitality of the person wearing it.
